What is massage?.
According to wikipedia.org “Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being and as a recreational activity.”
Massage has been used through the ages to heal and help the body and mind. The history goes at least back to ancient Romans and Greeks, but let’s not go through the history of this treatment but look at how it is today. Today there are many versions of massages such as Swedish massage, shiatsu, reflexology and many more.
Every masseur is unique even though there are some similarity between some, but I believe that no one can give or work exactly like someone else. Most often the treatment lies in treating tissues like muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin and joints. But one should never forget that massage also affects the soul, the part of us that most of us do not see with our eyes. I know that many massage therapists do not agree with me, they only see the body, but we are so much more than a body. We are souls that have a body and sometimes the soul is the one who needs healing. Actually I find it often so that the soul comes first then the body. If a person has been traumatize for some reason in the past it manifest in the body and more often than not causes a problem later on in life
